SOLUTION: PLANET OF LITTLE GUYS

ANSWER: YUKO SHIMIZU

Solvers are presented with a bank of word fragments and a series of images of animals (mostly), the bulk of which have two colored stripes above them with a "?" in between them. Those stripes are the same length as the fragments in the bank, and there are twice as many fragments as there are images in the lower table, so naturally, two fragments can be assigned to each image. It turns out that each image represents a character made by the Sanrio company, and that character's name can be formed by combining two fragments and inserting a letter in between them. For example, the two white rabbits in the top row represent Kuromi and My Melody, disambiguated by the colored stripes (as Kuromi often wears black, and My Melody often wears pink). Here is the full list of characters, with the added letters colored red:

The isolated image at the top is a white cat with one long red stripe; this image and its (5 5) enumeration clues Hello Kitty, one of Sanrio's most iconic characters. With all of the added letters from the lower table, the cluephrase "HELLO KITTY CREATOR'S NAME" is spelled out. This clues the answer to the puzzle, YUKO SHIMIZU.
