The Night Before

"Okay, back door will be locked, but side door just... has no lock. Awesome."

You continue scrolling up and down the page, kind of shocked that the Malcolm Theater's floorplan is publicly available in the first place.

Your name is SHAYDEN SPECTER. You're a ghost hunter for hire, and your first contract job (at least, your first official one) is happening tomorrow. Well, technically today? It's half past 1 in the morning, you get the idea.

Today-slash-technically-yesterday, you spoke with JULIET LEAR, the owner of the Malcolm Theater. She was the first to reach out to you after you finally got to setting up your personal webpage, and according to her, the Malcolm is "haunted as all get-out". According to Juliet, there have been both sightings and strange noises witnessed by the crew, and after a startling incident during a rehearsal last week, she's seriously concerned that the ghostly rumors she's heard are true.

"Alright, we've got a battle plan. Just some adjustments, and... hm."

You scan the room, gauging the equipment you'll be bringing with you. Up until a few hours ago, you were planning on having Juliet show you around the theater in the morning, but you just could not get yourself to sleep. It's the nerves; you're so used to sneaking around and not having to interact with anyone on these missions, that having someone expecting you to find results is spiking your anxiety. That's not even to mention that this ghost seems to pose a true danger to anyone stepping foot in the Malcolm. So you changed the plan: just like you're used to, you'll be breaking into the theater overnight.

Now that this is a nighttime outing, you're concerned you might not have everything you need. You've got a camera to record footage, a radio you've converted into a spirit box, and a container you're mostly confident could trap a ghost if you found one. But this is your first real contract, and you need some real equipment. Maybe you can whip something up real quick.
